Pros

My coworkers were amazing and come from a diverse background. The members are fantastic, savvy and ambitious. The pay was good and benefits are industry standard.

Cons

Pretty much everything else. I feel as though I was "catfished" by First Tech. When I first was hired there (after nearly a decade of experience in banks) I was assured that the culture was a night and day difference from what I was used to. At first I believed it, but it soon became clear that this was just another money-grubbing heartless organization. The focus is only on the numbers. I'm not naive enough to believe that numbers are unimportant, but they should be balanced with other priorities such as member satisfaction and employees' worth. Even as a top performer at times, I felt replaceable. From my limited exposure to top level executives, I really think they don't even know the extent of dissatisfaction that runs through the retail operations of the credit union. I think the problem lies with middle management. Almost all of the middle management I engaged with are from Bank of America and it shows. BofA initiatives are championed and people are promoted because of them because they're so "innovative" and "revolutionary". Well, no, that's the same thing we were doing at BofA years ago. Management is not open to feedback unless it's 100% positive. If you have constructive feedback, you are looked at as a problem child who "doesn't live the values" of First Tech. So much is expected of you and with so little time to do it after handling all the other responsibilities of your position. Everyone I worked with either hated it, left, or was looking for another opportunity. And in the time since I've left, I've only heard it's getting worse. As a side note, I once had a co-worker that was so toxic that they ruined the morale in our branch. What happened to them? They were promoted to prevent the "negative turnover" of firing them. Disgusting.

Pros

Generous employee loan discount, hybrid work schedule, professional development opportunities, Fresh fruit is a nice touch.

Cons

Small desks and crowded to co-workers which creates distraction and difficulty at times to concentrate due to noise. Hotelling desk locations often "raided" of equipment. One day you'll get there and you're all set and the next time docking station of other equipment is gone.

Pros

Nice location, easy access, good D&I

Cons

I worked here for two years, the Pay scale was so low you had to work two jobs if you’re a single person. They have the customer service representatives doing sales, and then find ways to not give sales bonuses because your customer service levels aren’t high enough. I had worked in customer service for eight years and I’m still in customer service at another institution and never have I seen such ridiculous rules. If you have to send a request to another department and they call them back your first call resolution is crap. And remember this is a sales team so they pay you so little and work really hard to not give you a bonus. I talked to a Work coworker who stated that now they don’t get their quarterly bonuses because they have to be at 110% of First call resolution to get the quarterly sales. Bonus makes zero sense.
