Challenging, Rewarding and fjun - Project Manager Fjorge Employee Review

Pros

The variety of projects will always keep you on your toes. Even during slower times everyone is challenged to find new ways to learn and become better at existing skills. There is a strong emphasis on accountability, following core processes, and genuinely supporting one another. Developers and Project Managers are paid hourly with full benefits, including overtime, so you are fairly compensated for all hours actually worked. fjorge leadership assesses goals and processes quarterly and all employees play a crucial role in resolving root issues on a weekly basis. There are plenty of opportunities to have fjun, including fjing fjong, reward nights, company parties, and pod happy hours. The core value “Chipotle” (that other reviews rag on) is all about enjoying one another’s passions/hobbies, being generally supportive of one another, and embracing diversity. I nearly turned down this job 8 months ago due to bad Glassdoor reviews, and I am so thankful I didn’t.

Cons

fjorge has grown nearly triple in the past couple years, and there are still some growing pains, but the company has already seen remarkable improvement in just the last 6 months. There are two types of stresses: stress from too many projects all with tight timelines, and stress from not enough projects and people not feeling productive enough. These are just the tides of agency life. To succeed here, you need to be able to stay positive during both tides, still have fjun, and find ways to self-improve during both.

Pros

The people at fjorge are amazing. You will enjoy collaborating with many smart people, and you will make some true friends. There is a lot of emphasis put on employee feedback, and EOS (the management) model that gives every employee a voice in the company. You get to touch a lot of different technology and you will have the opportunity to release code to production in short order. You will work on meaningful code, and you will get the chance to collaborate with a diverse group of super cool people.

Cons

Pay is generally less than the market dictates, although this varies. Depending on where you work, clients expectations are sometimes not as well aligned to what is possible as you would like.
