Pros
Flagler schools offer some great programs such as IB programs, a fire academy, vet tech program and many more. Some of the most highly qualified teachers I have ever worked with were at Flagler.
Cons
No Plan Period: They expect you to get there 45 minutes before school as part of your planning period but 15 minutes of that time you are required to be in the hallways supervising. I taught 5 completely different classes and often stayed 2-3 hours past my scheduled time for grading and planning. And that is on top of tutoring and part time work I had to do thanks to the low salary. Benefits are a joke. When I went to orientation they actually gave me a flyer with information about how to get Medicare for my kids because no one could afford the insurance. Good Ole Boys Club Listen to other reviewers about this. I suspect any positive reviews are coming from this group. If you are not connected and did not grow up with the administration then you are SOL. Administration & Toxic Culture. All talk of multiculturalism and DEI is just lip service. Bringing in the NAACP to speak during black history month was deemed "not a good idea" by one of the former principals and student safety and bullying are a joke. *Glassdoor said my original post did not meet community guidelines so I will just say Google Flagler Schools 2019 to read for yourself.* Referrals go "missing" and staff that questions them become targets of internal harassment. Staff is directed to nor speak to the press under any circumstances. Bullying is not taken seriously either. One student was told by a dean that "you can't possibly be getting bullied." Another teacher failed to report possible violence between two students because they were "hispanic." Recently (2022) a student was suspended for participating in their first amendment right to speak out in support of the LGBTQ+ community. The teachers here will tell you this is a great district. There are some amazing teachers and I understand their love and support for one another, but administration is awful and if you are not part of the clique then you are dispensable no matter what. I was warned about taking a job in this district and wish I had taken the advice. I do not feel students are safe or cared for here unless you are a football player or weight lifter, or part of that good ole boys club.
