Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your time with us but we don’t agree with the points you’ve raised as they are not an accurate characterisation of the current environment at Flashbay. Taking each point in turn:
-Poor pay, poor commission
We offer a competitive basic salary, generous commission scheme and various bonuses and prizes. We provide an accurate predication of total earnings to prospective employees and therefore the earning potential mentioned in our job adverts and discussed during interviews is based upon the earnings of current employees during their first year of employment. We review these numbers regularly to ensure they're up to date. That is to say that the strength of the compensation being offered can be properly evaluated during the recruitment process and an alternative opportunity can be sought if it's not in line with your requirements or expectations.
-Management is shockingly incompetent (HR especially)
Over the years we've had different managers across different teams and their individual strengths and weaknesses have varied. You are entitled to your opinion but we don't have any records of anyone raising competency-based complaints in a forum where they could actually have been linked to specific situations or individuals and acted on constructively.
-Bullying is tolerated if the bully brings profit
Bullying is not tolerated but if it occurs and isn't witnessed or reported it's not likely to be resolved. We encourage all our employees to share any such experiences and they will be handled sensitively and appropriate action taken.
-People got fired without warning, for example with locking their computers abruptly
That's simply not true. Individuals are unlikely to keep their colleagues up to date with the status of any performance meetings, notice or warnings they've received and so third parties would not be aware of the lead up to any instances of dismissal or the associated reasons. Sensible and reasonable security protocols are in place when an employment relationship comes to an end.
-TLs were allowed to steal accounts
Team Leaders are empowered to organise for the reallocation of accounts which are not being managed to the desired standard or for a range of other reasons but such reallocation requests are reviewed and actioned by an independent team and have been for many years.
-No flexibility when it comes to work (remote work, starting an hour later etc)
For years we've had flexible start and finish times and while remote working wasn't in place before the pandemic it's subsequently been adopted by almost every single member of the team unless their role requires physical presence - our warehouse staff for example would find it tricky to dispatch samples from home.
-No real benefits
Minimum 30 days holiday (increasing with service length), private medical insurance, pension scheme, flexible start and end times, hybrid working, a Perkbox subscription, regular free lunches and breakfasts, free snacks and fruit in the kitchens, monthly events with free food and drinks, and regular team and full company events make for a robust benefits package for a company of our size.
-Super high staff retention
We don't think it's bad to have super high staff retention, in fact we're quite proud of it. Providing a good working environment is very important to us and our high number of long term employees with 5+ years service are testament to that. We receive regular feedback from current and previous employees about the great environment we have created. We believe our environment along with the initial training, events and renumeration and benefits package we offer are the main reasons for our impressive retention.
-Outdated sales model and programs
Our sales model serves our customers well and we're continually improving our range of products and services to serve them better.
Advice to Management: Nothing, you do not know how to listen
In fact we'd love to hear from you - get in touch at hr.uk@flashbay.com because the above review doesn't match any of our records from exit interviews. If issues, real or perceived, are not communicated at any point other than in an anonymous review potentially years after leaving it's hard to learn useful lessons and make improvements where it would be appropriate to do so.
If you've read this far and you'd like to find out for yourself what it's like to be part of the Flashbay team apply for one of our open positions today.
