Pros

Mostly open scheduling for advanced engineers. Coffee is still free.

Cons

The new company name "Flexential" is a huge joke. This is how they broke the news to us employees: Senior leader in a conference room full of employees says "Guys, your probably going to hate the new name, but here it is...". I'm not joking, this is how they presented the new company brand name to us. The new combined company health benefits are among the worst in the industry now, premiums are about 150% higher then before the merger for like plans, and benefits and plan choices are substantially reduced. Pay rate for skilled engineers is about $20K to $50K a year lower then competing companies so all the good talent is leaving or has already quit. As a result customer satisfaction is at an all time low and customer churn is at an all time high. Customers are waiting days or sometimes weeks to get simple issues fixed since no one knows whats going on or cares enough to try to fix things. Email threads about customer issues go on and on without resolution, or are just ignored. I'm finding it hard to get any meaningful project work done in a timely manner because I'm putting out fires all day long.

Thanks for leaving feedback. We worked REALLY hard to have fun with our new brand including teasing a number of elements leading into the Brand Reveal. We themed things through a fun movie campaign including popcorn, movie tickets, red carpets, you name it! Most feedback on the events and teasers were HUGELY positive including the terrific video reveal we hosted both internally and externally. The company is spending the same or more on our benefits plans but the money is distributed a number of different ways rather than investing every dollar into a medical plan. We now offer 2 medical plans including an HSA with seed money, increased life and AD&D for any employee that makes over $50k, a bonus plan for all exempt employees (where previously most employees in the West were not bonus eligible) and an increased 401k match. We also increased leave opportunities for maternity and paternity leave as well as offer unlimited PTO.

Pros

Flexibility with work life balance Really talented and fun coworkers. Direct upper management great with helping pursue your goals and gathering everyone together to make your job feel like you are in fact a part of a team. This made work enjoyable even when aggravated by other things.

Cons

Compensation and recognition don't match performance. Despite consistent 5-star reviews and going above-and-beyond (taking on extra projects beyond my pay grade), raises were minimal (e.g., 0.9% after a strong first year) and promotions were seemingly gifted on favoritism over performance. Higher leadership (SVPs/L1s) showed limited follow-through on innovative internal projects—e.g., we built data solutions that outperformed enterprise third-party solutions, but they were shelved with only vague "good job" responses and no real investment. L1 attempted to enforce a new corporate policy of flexwork on people living nearly 75 miles away from the nearest corporate satellite office to show. My employment contract did not state I needed to be hybrid yet they enforced it on me even when I didn't have a car and my nearest team member was 3 states over. Policy was dropped after 6 or so months. As a PE-owned company, resources seem heavily directed toward infrastructure expansion (new data centers) rather than employee rewards or reinvestment in existing systems. This leads to frustration when teams outperform but see little financial upside. DCIM and data infrastructure feel under-resourced—limited data engineers, poor visibility into key datasets, infrequent health checks, and surveillance gaps create risks for outages and long-term reliability.
