Pros
I’ve been at Flock Safety for ~5 years and have grown a lot with the company. I started earlier in my career and now work as a senior engineering manager, which has given me a lot of opportunity to learn, take on more responsibility, and help build teams and systems from the ground up. The mission is real and easy to get behind. The work we do actually helps solve crimes and improve public safety, which makes the day-to-day work feel meaningful. The culture is generally strong and people care about ownership, outcomes, and doing the right thing. Even as the company continues to scale and leadership evolves, we still tend to make big strides during challenging periods rather than stalling. Hard work and impact are recognized. If you’re someone who likes moving fast, solving real problems, and growing alongside a scaling company, this is a wonderful place to be.
Cons
Like most fast-growing startups, there’s a lot of constant change. Priorities can shift quickly, processes aren’t always fully defined, and you have to be comfortable adapting as the company scales. Leadership changes can also create some uncertainty at times, especially while teams and org structures are still evolving. The pace can be demanding, and things don’t always slow down when you’re in the middle of figuring out new ways of working.
