Pros

Learned how to research records. Met a lot of people. Took a paycheck home every 2 weeks. Met new friends.

Cons

Worked in the office more than 10 years. If we weren't trying to get out of debt I would of quit after the first day. Supervision wants to tell you each and everything you do as if you are in preschool. They don't want you to think for yourself. Supervision will not stand up for you when there is a bad customer and assumes the clerk is always wrong. Do not like it if you are not a yes man. If you brown nose supervision they will love you and will move up but if not you will stay in the same place till you leave. Supervision will not speak up against anything they do not agree with because they only got their position because of their nose and will stick together rather they are right or wrong. Only way to get a pay increase is if county wide gets a raise which depends on commissioners court. Usually if you get a increase then you will pay more on the insurance which will put you in a higher pay bracket but will bring home less money.

Pros

My time at Fort Bend County had many positives, including meaningful work that served the community and a team of dedicated professionals.

Cons

Unfortunately, my role ended abruptly during a departmental “restructuring,” with no prior notice or opportunity to adapt to the new direction. The decision process lacked transparency, and the transition felt unnecessarily cold and disorganized. Those considering employment here should be aware that changes in leadership priorities can happen quickly and without much communication. While the mission of the County remains admirable, stability and long-term career growth are uncertain if leadership or departmental direction shifts.
