Pros
Excellent match on the 401k plan. Annual birthday breakfasts with the CEO. Excellent training. The learning opportunities behind the teller line are immense. Some really nice people work here. It gave me the opportunity to learn a great deal on the retail banking side, utilizing my knowledge and previous background towards moving into a high paying back end IT position at another financial institution.
Cons
It depends which branch you work at. There are branches where members are fun to interact with, and other branches having members who are intimidating and will test your patience. The same can be said for management. There are branches where management is delightful to work with. And other branches, where you get the drama queens. My experience was both sweet and sour. I was happy until current management went on baby leave. As a result, I was under new management. On a regular basis, I would be abruptly summoned to zoom meetings and forced to hear lies about myself. Although there were some small incidents that I take credit for, such as not wearing my mask over my nose, scenarios would be fabricated and another write up would result. For months, I was walking on eggshells. Any gesture, any facial expression, any change in tone, simply anything would be misconstrued and entered into another write up. This series of negative events lead me to aggressively seek a better opportunity elsewhere. After much diligence, I found my dream job literally paying more than double my annual salary. While I sit here still pinching myself, I am reminded that every cloud has a silver lining. With all the good that is to be gained at Bethpage Federal Credit Union, there are some serious dark clouds hovering over it.
