Pros
There are a number of brilliant, hardworking people working at the Center for Molecular Biotechnology in Newark, Delaware. The science is interesting, and the benefits are pretty darn good. Acting executive director has over ten years in with the center and is invested in long term success. If you are reading this, you have probably seen (or will see) the negative reviews. They are an honest reflection of where things have been the last few years. However, CMB has had a major house cleaning in the last two years, including the departure of some very negative leadership. Though we are not out of the woods yet, it seems like we are finally on the right path. If this turn around is successful, there will be a number of opportunities for career advancement.
Cons
We are recovering from a decade of mismanagement and negativity. We lost a lot of good (and some bad) people to layoffs followed by "sinking ship" style attrition. This means a lot of work. It also means that a number of employees are suddenly thrust into higher level responsibilities. However, we have a new director who is incredibly dedicated to turning the place around.
