Pros
Fulfillment from working directly with patients on a regular basis. Flexible hours, PTO accumulates quickly, decent pay and benefits. They have branches all over the country so there is a lot of availability if you choose to relocate. Social Workers are given flexibility to shape their own role. It's important to be an autonomous social worker, but still be able to collaborate with team members from other disciplines.
Cons
Typically there is one social worker per clinic, so you need to call or e-mail if you require social worker support. The company re-organizes often and does not always take into consideration if new policies are realistic for clinical staff. Lack of opportunity for promotion that does not include a lot of traveling. As someone committed to service, it is hard for me to participate in pushing pharmacy enrollment or other programs that are designed to help the company get more money from patients.
