Pros

Great pay, payed lunch breaks, good work if you don't mind doing multiple trade tasks. Decent benefits, pension is not clear, the projected # at retirement looks good but they don't break it down and turns out cpp and oas is amalgamated into that # so they try to pull a fast one on you. The hourly co-workers are typical to a factory setting. Don't work outside much in the winter Bonus

Cons

The salaried people (bosses is what they call them selves) are snakes. They claim to remove road blocks but are actually the road blocks themselves. How can someone claim to be your boss and appreciate what you do when they can't or have never done your job before. They hire new grad engineers to be there little eyes and ears on the floor, and are only in the position long enough to learn what a marrette is, yes I'm not kidding I had an electrical engineer who's supposed to be my boss ask me what a marette is, WOW! Funny how the plant runs way better when they aren't around. Maintenance shift isn't the worst but a 4 on 4 off gets old after a few years. OT goes by seniority yet the plant isn't union. Don't work outside much at all in the summer, maybe an hour a month if that. Bonus structure\ matrix is dictated by ( Bosses) but if you make the maximum bonus one year they make sure you don't the following year by setting un achievable goals. 95% mechanical work 5% electrical No way of moving up because they don't want a tradesman that knows how maintenance works because that person would make them look incompetent, they want yes men as bosses. They claim safety is #1 but the truth is production is #1
