Pros

People in the company are great to be around, the atmosphere is stress free. Great name to add to the résumé experience.

Cons

Cheap approach when it comes to employee compensation. Coming from print background, it's hard to change the mindset and adapt to the new media era. Old staff wants to secure the job as long as possible and the excuse is that Nurses are old and need old and traditional media... Until that changes, the company will struggle like any other print medium.

Pros

Great people. Dedicated staff. Very knowledgeable professionals. Lots of diversity and cause marketing. Great work life balance. Management team is very driven and focused on growth. I enjoy working with nurses to provide even better healthcare.

Cons

I presently don't see any downside. I'm very happy to work here.

Pros

Great group of core employees who have personal commitments to the company. Found some lifelong friends. Somewhat flexible schedules for management, but long hours expected in return (not a problem for me). Caring attitude for the most part, even when solutions weren't forthcoming. I think they have the best interest of their readers at heart - especially the old school nurses. Being part of Gannett was a great experience - I wish that the healthcare group had gotten more support from the parent company.

Cons

Too many people were elevated to Vice President level for such a small division - there must be 20 VPs for a staff of less than 120. Leaves fewer staff to do the actual work. Too many grumpy, old school CHI employees stink up the place. Very understaffed sales team supports a huge art and education team - no logic to that at all. Many long time employees refuse to embrace the digital age. Management told us that raises were frozen for many years, which was a lie I discovered after I left the company. Cost-cutting turned out to be just for the benefit of selling off the company. Digital and IT shortcomings are an embarrassment.
