Pros
Big Boy Rules: NOTHING AT GDBA WILL EVER BE HANDED OUT and that’s why some of these "one star reviewers" are upset, because they want a big payday and world travel after their first month at the firm; when that doesn’t happen, their entitled attitude causes resentment. Where go-getters see opportunity, victims see a brick wall. Every single manager, director, and executive within our Protective Security Division rose from the bottom up (where those naysayers are now). I'm a former Marine and I've been with the company for a few years and I've absolutely worked my tail off and been successful. I now lead a protective detail b/c of my performance. The associates I work with at GDBA are some of the most dedicated professionals I've ever met, and unlike USMC, we are promoted purely because of our merit, not seniority.
Cons
Not a lot of work-life balance. This ain't a 9 to 5 job. If you want to succeed, you better bring a service-oriented smile on your face and be prepared to cancel your dinner reservations. This is a tough life and is not for everyone. The hours are extremely long. To succeed, you need to be absolutely sure, that you were put on earth to protect at-risk people. If that's the case, then this work is incredibly rewarding. And the firm rewards performance -- the cream always rises to the top and the opportunities within the firm, which is growing internationally, are endless.
