Pros
- total lack of organization and accountability has some upsides if you want to overstep your responsibilities (ie nobody knows what's going on so you can more or less do what you want if you're in good standing) - execs try to be open about decision making which is nice, but the good will sometimes highlights how out of touch they are with their employees - the people are good for the most part, it's a shame the org is so dysfunctional
Cons
- org is led by academics with no industry experience. It shows. - poor leadership and broad distrust in the leadership team - cross-functional communication is non-existent - organizational leaders are wary of making the wrong decisions, so they make no decisions at all. instead, individual contributors make decisions that aren't shared out, and teams end up going in opposite directions.
