San Francisco is the mot expensive city in the USA. There are very few spaces in schools and your child can get placed anywhere in the city, without you having a choice at all. I had to home-school, because there was no space in public schools, aside form one school, rated 1/10 (the worst), in a high crime area. People rather move than to send their children there. 2-bedroom apartment is about $4000 per month. Most people commute long distances.
