Pros
There were no tangible benefits following the acquisition of Nevro by Globus, which was finalized in April 2025. We were initially assured that no operational changes would take place within the first 90 days post acquisition. However, just weeks later, in early May, an abrupt email was sent out stating that all remote employees were required to report to the headquarters in Redwood City, CA. Failure to comply would be treated as a “voluntary resignation.” This created significant concern and anxiety throughout the organization, especially given the lack of follow-up communication. Globus remained largely unresponsive. When I approached my manager for updates, I was often told that leadership was either avoiding the questions or simply responding with, “I’m not sure.” There was no effort from Globus to understand Nevro’s spinal cord stimulation (SCS) technology or integrate with the existing team. Their priorities appeared strictly financial, with no reassurance or engagement provided to employees. At the end of the 90-day period, many on-site employees were unexpectedly laid off without prior notice. Unlike remote employees who at least had some indication and time to prepare the on-site staff were informed in a hastily scheduled late-night meeting and terminated the very same day. This experience clearly demonstrated a lack of transparency, empathy, and interest in preserving the strengths of the Nevro team or culture.
Cons
The acquisition experience was deeply disappointing. As someone going through their first corporate acquisition, I found the process disorganized and demoralizing. I had been on track for a promotion, but that was entirely disregarded with no acknowledgment or follow-up. While I understand that business decisions often prioritize financial outcomes, the lack of transparency and empathy demonstrated by Globus made it clear that employee well-being was not a consideration. This experience has shown me the importance of working for organizations that value both people and performance. Moving forward, I will be extremely cautious about any opportunity involving Globus.
