There is a culture of people still being online and available during PTO, Mid-level leadership is not great at consistently and clearly communicating changes. They also tend to lack accountability. Much of the staff regardless of department is swamped with work so it can be difficult to get ahold of people. Also near impossible to get any significant raise in pay, even if you have positive performance reviews year after year. You also do not have most holidays off, and PTO lumps sick, vacation, and a couple of the allowed holidays into one bucket that you have to manage.
