Pros

Decent benefits and remote-work flexibility

Cons

I worked at GoDaddy years ago and genuinely enjoyed it. It felt like a company that cared about its employees, customers, and culture. Unfortunately, that is no longer the company I experienced during my most recent time there. Since the CEO changed, the culture has shifted dramatically. There is a heavy emphasis on inclusion, diversity, harassment training, and corporate messaging. Those topics are important, but it often felt like leadership spent more time focusing on those initiatives than addressing the issues employees actually faced. Many of the major business decisions also felt like they were made to benefit executives and shareholders while employees dealt with the consequences. The biggest issue is that leadership constantly presents changes as improvements or opportunities, but in my experience they almost always resulted in more pressure, more work, or fewer opportunities for employees. For example, after training my team was given what was presented as an exciting opportunity to move into Hosting and Website Security sales. It sounded like a great opportunity, so the entire team accepted. About three months later, that department was combined with Email Sales to create Specialty Sales. We had no say in the decision and were forced into an entirely different role than what we originally accepted. It felt like a complete bait and switch. What made it even more frustrating was the messaging around AI. We were constantly reassured by leadership that AI could never take our jobs. Those conversations happened repeatedly. Then, after we had already been moved into Specialty Sales, I had a conversation with leadership where I was told that Website Security and Hosting work was in fact being replaced by AI. That information was never shared when we were moved into the department. Instead, Website Security became a very small percentage of our workload while almost all of our calls became Email Support. Multiple people on my team, including myself, were eventually let go because we could not consistently meet the aggressive sales goals in a role we never intended to take. Another example is the KPI changes. Leadership announced they were changing the requirement from 80% adherence to 96% availability and presented it as a positive change. In reality, it means you are expected to be available for customer interactions for nearly your entire shift with very little downtime. It is unrealistic and helps explain why burnout and turnover are so high. Compensation also changed for the worse. When I worked here years ago, commissions were earned on both renewals and new sales. Under the current leadership, commissions only count on new sales with a slightly higher commission percentage. Again, it was presented as a positive change, but new sales are much harder to generate than renewals. Many employees who previously performed well suddenly found themselves struggling to hit goals after that change. Not to mention, the pay is still the same as it was 8 years ago and has not increased with inflation. The constant change is exhausting. Policies change. Procedures change. Departments are reorganized. Leadership changes. Sales expectations change. It feels like you are constantly adapting to another new initiative instead of becoming better at your job. The expectations are extremely rigid. If you are not hitting every metric exactly as expected, your job is at risk. There is very little room for employees who provide excellent customer service for example but struggle with increasingly aggressive sales expectations. Multiple capable employees lost their jobs because of those expectations. The pattern I experienced was the same over and over. Leadership would present a change as an opportunity or improvement, employees would raise concerns, and months later it became clear those concerns were justified. GoDaddy still has some great employees, but the company I enjoyed working for years ago no longer exists. If you are considering working here, expect constant change, increasing pressure, aggressive sales goals, and very little job security if your numbers fall behind. I won’t be surprised at all if all of their customer-facing roles are taken over by AI within the next few years.

Pros

Great benefits, cool people (not including leadership)

Cons

- You'll be worked like a slave, told when you can take your breaks and lunches. - Boy's Club. If you're in it, you can get away with lying to customers, breaking company policy, and basically whatever you want. If you're not part of it, watch your back, you'll be hyper-scrutinized for every action you take. - Commissions are capped, so top performers are limited. - This is not a true sales job, you are taking inbound customer service calls and will be expected to do technical support and deal with escalated inbound customers. - Much of the job has been outsourced to a Business Partner Organization (BPO) in the Philippines. Because they aren't true GoDaddy employees, they are allowed to operate like the wild wild west. Lying to customers, selling them duplicate products, deleting things from their accounts and reselling them the same product. Basically a complete legal nightmare... but you aren't allowed to complain about it and you are expected to fix all the problems they create.
