Pros
Overall not a bad retail job, especially for people new to the job market. The interview was easy in my case (I was hired instantly). It's fun to sort through donations and find cool old stuff. Small locations are preferable. Make sure to visit the store beforehand to see what you're dealing with. People are animals and can destroy all progress you made on a clothing rack, bookshelf, homewares display. There's no on-site manager which is nice, but there always seems to be something they want you to do.
Cons
So many customers haggled us for lower prices on plenty of already fair deals. Lots of shoplifters and tag-switchers. Homeless people love goodwills so you have to deal with them a lot. We were constantly understaffed so me and a coworker were left managing all responsibilities on our own respectively. Management was flaky about hiring because they themselves had to deal with a bunch of other locations.
