Pros

Was alright- nothing special. Didn't feel that great about working there. Worked for one of their smaller companies.

Cons

The Federal guidelines states that PrEP is classified as a Class A preventative medication and thus all testing and medication should come at a $0 cost from insurance. With Graham holdings being self-funded insurance, they do not have to abide by this guideline and opted to not provide this kind of coverage to their LGBTQIA+ community which in turn is EXTREMELY homophobic and clearly do not value their LGBTQIA+ employees. I had to pay roughly $1000 of fees because I had not met the deductible for PrEP and because insurance doesn't cover it 100% prior to deductible. Graham Holdings is not a LGBTQIA+ friendly company and I urge anyone to not work for them. They also take long to promote people and felt my direct leadership was never going to promote me. I quit around the same time as another colleague and he was definitely a better employee and they were going to match his $40K salary increase request (for the same position mind you) and they weren't going to match my ask for $5k increase request to stay. We had both been there the same time frame. I know he was a better and more qualified employee but didn't feel good knowing they were willing to bump his salary to over $100K when they wouldn't even be willing to match my $5k.

Graham Holdings Response

Our Graham Holdings Company medical plans do cover preventive medications (including PrEP) with no cost share to members. We also provide a dedicated benefits call center and access to health advocates who can provide specific information about plan coverage and research coverage issues if members feel there has been a mistake. At Graham, we strive to create and maintain an inclusive workplace that offers benefits to meet the diverse needs of our workforce. We take our employees' wellness seriously and work with our healthcare insurance partners to ensure we are providing comprehensive health coverage for all members, including LGBTQ+ individuals. We are always open to feedback and like to be made aware if our benefits or policies cause inadvertent disadvantages to any employee demographic.
