Pros

The work is very reward, and I really loved my experiences taking care of the kids. The job itself, while stressful and tough, was incredible.

Cons

My superiors at both locations I worked at had insane issues. The first was incredibly toxic toward her staff, and berated us in and out of work, while throwing a fit if we stood up against what she said. My superior at my second location was lazy, stubborn, and extremely unprofessional. In the end I reported the second supervisor for vaping on school property, and within the building the babies were in.

Pros

You will always be doing mission-driven, impactful work at this organization, Everyone who works here truly cares about the mission, it just comes through in different ways sometimes. The benefits package is impressive and includes a significant amount of PTO days, very competitive retirement contributions, gym membership, and so much more.

Cons

The organization is still working on finding its footing going into the future. There are a lot of really exciting projects and initiatives coming down the pipeline, but the foundation isn't quite solid yet. There is intentional work being done to improve this, but with current capacities of staff and budget constraints it will continue to be a an uphill challenge. Pay is low, but not unexpected in the non-profit sector in Austin.
