Pros

Previously a lot of fun with a flexible schedule perfect for students or juggling multiple jobs.

Cons

They are in the middle of a big rebrand that is 100% focused on marketing and not on member or staff experiences. A lot of long time directors are peacing out as it's become clear feedback only goes one direction. It's all performative change with no real benefits. Example: they are opening a child care facility in 4 Points as a "service to a community struggling to find affordable early child care." Meanwhile they've reduced the amount of time their own low wage, hourly staff can utilize the existing facilities like Kid's Play to care for their own kids while working.

Pros

You will always be doing mission-driven, impactful work at this organization, Everyone who works here truly cares about the mission, it just comes through in different ways sometimes. The benefits package is impressive and includes a significant amount of PTO days, very competitive retirement contributions, gym membership, and so much more.

Cons

The organization is still working on finding its footing going into the future. There are a lot of really exciting projects and initiatives coming down the pipeline, but the foundation isn't quite solid yet. There is intentional work being done to improve this, but with current capacities of staff and budget constraints it will continue to be a an uphill challenge. Pay is low, but not unexpected in the non-profit sector in Austin.
