Cons
Toxic environment Have you read the other reviews about this company? If so, you’ll find it toxic environments are throughout this corporation from sales, production, IT, even in HR! What I experienced in sales was no different. Management motivates the sales department through fear and intimidation, as well as using lead allocations as if it’s some prize to win or, reducing the amounts of leads you get. With as much data as you’re expected to input, and as much data as they collect, they can find errors in even the most detailed of sales person. They will ride you and hound you over such trivial things like using the wrong color on your hand drawing! Then, use lead allocations to punish you. Favoritism: Under the guise of meritocracy leads are allocated based on performance. But, management is in complete control of lead allocations. It is blatantly obvious they assign good leads to high performers. Even when these so-called high performers don’t know what the heck they’re doing in the field. In other words, high performers are falsely propped up due to receiving quality leads, while others receive inferior leads, or leads with very little or no chance at all of closing. If you are not one of the favored people, your lead allocations will be cut, your lead quality will be terrible, the logistics of your leads will be difficult. If you find yourself on the “sh-1t list” you will be dragged into training meeting after training meeting, and your income will spiral down until they literally starve you out. Become a corporate clone or leave. Starving salespeople: This company will hire salespeople with no regard to lead volumes. They have no regard for technical skills in fixing a house foundation. All they care about is closing ratios, and high pressure sales tactics to get every appointment to close same day. Salespeople are not valued and you are made to feel you are easily replaceable. And they accomplish this by literally starving you through giving you the worst leads then punishing you because of closing rates with lead allocations being cut. And the cycle continues. Public humiliation: Imagine having the entire staff in a meeting and someone is called downstairs to meet with a manager in a closed door meeting. Only to find out that this was a punishment tactic whereas the employee had been written up. I’ve personally seen this happen a dozen times in my short time with this company. Public shaming is a terrible thing to do to anybody! They will write you up for the most minor offenses just so they can have that and hold it against you. If you question and ask for proof of what they’re accusing you of, you will be written up for insubordination. Retaliation: Whatever you do do not ask any questions about lead quality, lead volumes, marketing efforts, appointment logistics or anything that challenges management to provide a reasonable answer. This will be seen as confrontational and you will lose the favored status. Your lead quality will decline, closing rates follow, then lead allocations, write ups then finally performance improvement plan. They say that this is supposed to help you get back on track, but they really don’t care. Micromanagement: If you are not a favorite person, your data input will be scrutinized like you have never seen before. This level of scrutiny fosters an environment where you feel your work is never ever complete. You may feel with 100% certainty that a particular appointments disposition is complete and accurate but trust me, they will find something wrong with it just so they can have something to reprimand you about. On the flipside, if you’re a favored person, you can have an error that goes on for months and it’s never even noticed. There is never a “hey, good job” without a “but you screwed this part up”. Their goal is to create a bunch of sales people clones and punish you for stepping out of their box. Software: For a company of this size, it is amazing how terrible the software is. It is not integrated with anything, therefore, you will find yourself doing duplicate work, and doing things that even off the shelf software normally would handle. It will take 2 devices and hours of work to “dispo” each appointment, and even then, in your head, you won’t feel like it will ever be good enough. Groundworks doesn’t care: This company never attempts to reply to any of these Glassdoor reviews. That tells me there is no desire to figure out a solution or correct the problem. My advice, run away from this company as fast as you can. Life is too short to be treated this way. ———————- In summary: The company, Groundworks, has a toxic environment that permeates throughout all departments, including sales, HR, IT, and production. Sales management uses fear and intimidation to motivate salespeople, and lead allocations are used as a means of punishment. High performers are favored and given quality leads, while others receive poor quality leads or none at all. Salespeople are undervalued and viewed as easily replaceable, and public humiliation is used as a form of punishment. The company practices micromanagement, scrutinizing data input and creating a suffocating work environment. The software is inadequate for a company of this size, requiring duplicate work and a significant amount of time to complete tasks. Groundworks does not attempt to address or correct the issues raised in Glassdoor reviews, indicating a lack of concern for their employees. It is advised to steer clear of this company and seek better opportunities elsewhere.
