Pros

When it was Talon Healthy IT, it was a small and wonderful, employee-oriented company. Management was supportive, communicative, flexible, and willing to work with people. Rewards were frequent, as was praise and feedback. The environment was casual and relaxed. Under HCTec, there's still friendly and helpful co-workers, and some flexible scheduling options depending on location.

Cons

After the buyout, lots of middle management and corporate interference has turned the environment high-stress and added quite a bit of micromanaging. The company seems to be transitioning to putting more emphasis on maximizing call volume over quality of service for customers. Raises are infrequent and often employees are under paid for what they do. There are no work from home options post-COVID, and it turns out they do not accommodate illnesses or disabilities very well as a result.

Pros

Gained hands-on experience supporting multiple healthcare organizations and diverse IT environments. Strengthened advanced troubleshooting skills across Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, Intune, Citrix, VPN, and networking technologies. Exposure to enterprise healthcare applications and technologies, including Epic and other clinical systems. Opportunity to provide white-glove support to end users while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

Cons

Career advancement opportunities could be more clearly defined, with transparent paths for promotion and skill development. Compensation could be more competitive with the current IT market, particularly for experienced analysts. Workload can become heavy during major projects or large-scale deployments, making resource balancing challenging.
