Pros
“In my experience, HD Supply also put effort into morale. They’d bring in food for employees from time to time, and at the workplace they even hosted basketball tournaments. Stuff like that doesn’t replace safety and good management, but it does show they understand culture matters in a warehouse environment.
Cons
“In my experience working at HD Supply, I saw a level of safety risk and operational strain that I haven’t encountered elsewhere. I personally witnessed multiple employee injuries, and when people needed restrictions or accommodations, it often felt like the response was driven by staffing shortages and productivity pressure—like the operation couldn’t afford to slow down, even temporarily. There were also repeated safety incidents that raised concern: we had to evacuate outside at times due to equipment overheating, and I saw situations where chemicals were disposed of improperly (for example, tossed into trash cans), which created fire risk. On top of that, the leadership style at my location came across as hostile at times, which made it harder for people to speak up or push back on unsafe conditions. I can’t speak for every HD Supply site, but based on what I experienced at mine, it was one of the least safe work environments I’ve personally been in.
