Pros
Richardson location is easy to get to from most parts of the DFW Metroplex. At one time they were flexible with telecommuting and flex-time but got more hard-line about "face time" as the economy soured over the past couple of years. People were generally easy to work with.
Cons
1) Software - horrible. Worst I've seen before or since. HRsmart tends to hire young, inexperienced programmers and turn them loose with no internal training or supervision, resulting in a codebase that a college freshman would look down on. A lot is made of the rigorous testing but it is mostly superficial, allowing broken and incomplete applications to be released to the customer. 2) Business Processes - broken. "account managers" deal with the clients exclusively, so developers seldom hear what the customer actually wants. Often code is written multiple times because requirements are incorrectly defined or more often, not understood by the account manager due to lack of training and product knowledge. 3) Organization - dysfunctional. Programmers are split into two groups - one develops new applications, and one services the customers. Because of this structure, new application development rarely takes into account the needs of the current customer base. This results in a perennially unhappy customer base that has new features thrust upon them that they neither need nor want, while the issues that they complain about, and really want, go ignored. Summary: Obviously far more bad than good. They appear to have a core group of long term employees (roughly 20%) that are constant, while the remaining 80% turns over every 12-18 months - the classic "bad place to work".
