Pros

Good people. Was a good place to have a long career in the past. Lots of learning opportunities in the past. Years ago it was a dream job. I have so many awesome hallmark friends for life!

Cons

Very very cliquish leadership in creative. They only invest in a chosen few. As the category declines and they do their cyclical culling they cut departments that make product while keeping and investing in departments that are leadership pet projects. They kill off product with a past of good performance because it isn’t their personal taste. The job was amazing for many years and I am grateful, just sad to see the mismanagement. I still have such a beloved hallmark family. I’m glad hallmark was part of my journey and also glad it’s over.

Pros

Great company and great people! Very thorough training program.

Cons

It can be hard work! Some stores don't have deliveries where they're suppose to be and you have to go searching. You have an allotted amount time to spend at each store.

Pros

Airconditioning in all production areas

Cons

Hallmark Manufacturing in Metamora Illinois has a management team which needs to take a seminar called "Leadership in the 21st Century". Micromanagement is no longer the best method of leadership to motivate employees. The facility manager along with the production department group leader are incompetent in mostly every way. I was required to run a production line with a temporary team member who was obviously under the influence of drugs. I told the production supervisor that the line we were assigned to that day was a two-person process which requited both associates to be extremely alert. I strongly suggested the actions of the temporary staff employee could cause property damage and potentially an injury. The supervisor made a change to the assignment, but the group leader disagreed and changed it back. At this time the supervisor notified the EHS manager and facility manager. This issue was taken up to corporate human resources in Kansas City, but nothing was done. I made a direct appeal to corporate human resources but was told nothing could be done about it. In addition, the group leader in question was involved in six safety incidents operating a forklift over a four-month period of time, including running into a pear. Only two of the incidents were initially reported. This normally results in termination but since he drove increased production rates via micromanaging everything was overlooked and is still employed by Hallmark The phrase "Safety First" is apparently not important to this facility.
