Pros

The relationships you build with the residents are one-of-a-kind.

Cons

Working at Harbor’s Edge was one of the most unbalanced and disheartening experiences of my career. While the pay may seem attractive, it quickly becomes evident that it’s a bandage for a deeply dysfunctional and unsupportive work environment. The workload is overwhelming, with most employees juggling multiple job titles and responsibilities. For example, drivers not only transport residents but are also expected to staff the front desk and manage event setups and breakdowns. The lack of proper staffing in key departments exacerbates the issue—HR is staffed by only two people, one of whom handles payroll on top of their other duties. Accounting relies on outdated and inaccurate spreadsheets, and most departments lack expertise in senior living, with the CFO being the only exception. The incoming CEO, who has been a consultant for years, has already stated that her tenure will be short—just two years. She lives on campus, creating an uncomfortable overlap between personal and professional boundaries. Despite employees being stretched to their limits, there is zero appreciation for their efforts. The atmosphere is rife with negativity, and supervisors have no qualms about undermining their staff—calling them failures, for instance. The stress is compounded by a lack of interdepartmental support, leaving employees to fend for themselves in an already chaotic environment. In short, this company will drain you physically and mentally. They pay well out of desperation, not because they value their employees. For anyone considering a role at Harbor’s Edge, be prepared for an unbalanced life with little recognition or support. Proceed with caution.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! We're thrilled to hear that you feel supported and valued as part of the team. Your contributions truly make a difference, and we sincerely appreciate all that you bring to the table. We're excited to continue collaborating with you and wish you even more success moving forward! As for the "free paycheck program"—we're still in the experimental phase, so you'll have to settle for your regular paycheck this time. But don't worry, if it ever launches, you'll be the first to know—right after we figure out how to make money without working! 😂
