Pros

I'll always value my time at Hatch. 99% of the team was amazing. The co-founders are VERY good at identifying and hiring talent to help shape the company's growth. They're also real -- it doesn't feel like a "tech" start-up. It feels more entrepreneurial than anything, which is a huge plus if that's your thing. In the tail-end of my time there, we had brought on some great leadership team staff members, including product and marketing that will lead the company to new heights. There's no doubt in my mind that Hatch will grow and become a successful company. The product is awesome and it has a lock-tight product-market fit. You'll learn a TON from the co-founders. Based on a few reviews here, I think a lot of people misinterpret their coaching moments as a negative - it's all coming from a place of growth. They really do love to see employees become better versions of themselves.

Cons

Lack of managerial oversight. Don't get it twisted - this is a sales-first organization. No matter how hard you work, no matter how much you dedicate to the org - if it's not a signed contract, no one cares. At the end of the day, as long as you're selling more than anyone else, it's acceptable to treat your co-workers like a means to an end (the 'end', of course, being your commission check). It sucks to feel like the work you're doing every day is insignificant to the greater good - especially when the only compliments you get are from customers or partners. Along with the shift to being a sales-led organization, it felt like the entire mentality shifted from actually helping customers succeed to trying to lock them in to a 12-month contract (just go check their latest reviews on Facebook). Exacerbated by COVID, remote work, and hiring entire teams from other companies that caused internal divisiveness (Richmond vs. Utah vs. Boston), the "magic" that Hatch had dissipated mid-2021.

Pros

As a recent hire, I couldn’t be happier with my decision to join this company. The engineering culture is strong, with a shared commitment to doing the right thing. The company's rapid growth, particularly in the AI space, has led to an influx of new talent on the engineering team, which has been a great opportunity for personal growth and learning. The upper and middle management are very supportive and seem genuinely invested in fostering a healthy work-life balance, which is a huge plus. If you're considering joining, I’d say: go for it. It's a great place to grow your career while being part of a dynamic and innovative team.

Cons

There's really nothing negative to say when everyone here is so positive.
