Pros

Great engineers with various backgrounds. You’re contributing to an open source software as your daily job and you get paid for it.

Cons

The US wing of the company thinks that they are the true owner of the company and assumes the engineering department as an outsourcing part of it. Executives do not care about what engineers think, what they complain about, or what they suggest. Which ends up with an US office saying “we’re in a great position!!!” where all good engineers with know-how leave the company recently. Yes, it was a great company with great engineering culture, until the late 2020. Then, whatsoever happened, things started being worse every single day. So, if you’re outside of the US and thinking to work at Hazelcast, think once more as the US office will hire you as cheap-labor and will never respect your opinions.

Pros

The technology itself is great and used by many big-name customers in mission critical systems. The culture is very collegial and there is generally a lot of collaboration up and down and across the org chart. Employees have a fair amount of autonomy. People work hard but a balanced life is encouraged.

Cons

Frequent direction changes. It's a necessary function of the market the product serves and tech in general but at times it can be stressful.
