Pros

- Some really great, genuine people working here that are committed to the mission. - Early on, they recognized and promoted top performers but this has stagnated.

Cons

- Mission is used to take advantage of people and make them feel guilty for setting boundaries. Mental health matters for everyone else. - Overly focused on AI despite glaring issues and serious ethical concerns with AI being even remotely involved in mental healthcare. Forced unreasonably high token usage or else. I remember a strong focus on providing a "human touch" for therapists and clients but that is almost gone entirely, apart from agents offshore who have no understanding of the US healthcare system and it's complexities. - Recent leadership hires are subpar at best. They lack substance and come from companies that no one looks to as examples of good products/services but they try to make Headway just as bad. - High quotas for the sales team to sign new providers without much concern at all for quality, leaving the CX team to clean up the mess while exec blabs on about growth. Headway used to feel different and seemed to want to be different but it's just another cog in the broken US healthcare machine.

Pros

I’ve been a PGA here since August 2024, and overall my experience has been a positive one. The biggest thing for me is that the mission feels real. You’re not just saying you work in mental healthcare access, you actually feel the weight and importance of that in the day to day. I’ve also really appreciated the people and the benefits. As a first time dad, the support around parental leave meant a lot to me personally. Headway offers 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave, and I was able to split it into two parts, which gave my family a lot more flexibility when we actually needed it most. Doula expenses being covered was another thing that stood out to me. It made the support feel real, not just like something nice written in a benefits doc.

Cons

The nature of the work can be a lot to keep up with at times because insurance and tech are both constantly changing. Things shift, details evolve, and the landscape does not stay still for long. Having strong operational habits and a good routine helps a lot, but you definitely need to keep your head on a swivel.
