Pros

Salary better than the average. Good mix of people and experience. A procurement hub. Good for the CV, good for a full experience of the procurement cycle. A useful network of people considering the turnover.

Cons

Prior to American influx; Straightforward albeit limiting strategy, was more of a category/framework manager role, running multiple further competitions with NHS Trusts. Also almost a sales role to onboard NHS Trusts onto frameworks. Post American influx; Some management is inflated, "blue sky thinking" and ego deflecting any real guidance. A fear of the CEO, who rightfully bought in the attitude to optimise the organisation. A few employees of the business who had coasted at a senior level up until this point became slightly wary. A hire-em-fire-em culture transpired, an interim HR consultant was bought in to seemingly find loopholes and aggressively get rid of a lot of people. The manner in which many good employees left or were pushed out, some during their notice period was disturbing. This seemed to be with the support of many of the senior staff. Trusted staff have been made "Directors".

Pros

Work life balance is good Healthcare benefits is good

Cons

Travel is a difficult area to work in. It's very cliquey. They "want you to be promoted to recruiter" but heavily misrepresent the position, requirements, and pay. They like to say that you will make 6-figures within your first year, but you will not. Not unless you eat, sleep, and breathe HealthTrust. Keep in mind that while you may do okay, what you make is dependent on who you sign and HCA Healthcare has a terrible reputation in the medical world when it comes to employee treatment and environment. If you LIKE sales and do well in sales, this actually might be for you. You're pitching dreams, not promises, to get a bite on a line and try to get commissions. It's going to be draining. It's going to be tough. It's going to be competitive. There are other travel agencies who treat employees better. If you're interviewing and they promised you greatness, prepare yourself not to get it.
