Pros

Excellent benefits. Free Healthcare. Generally a good company culture, and at least at my store, were big on retention and you focusing on yourself/family when needed. They say they "hire for life". They mean that. They don't like to lose people. It is even built into each retail stores objectives to not lose or fire people or else they miss out on additional corporate rewards. Rick seems to be a very good man and values keeping this away from being a rotating door car business which many dealerships are happy to do.

Cons

Biggest con, the reason I gave 4 over 5 stars, and the only reason I left is that this culture almost leads to the highest ups being trusted to a fault and heavily guarded. If you make your way into high level management or GM it is very hard to get fired. Newer employees however are totally at the whim of whatever plan your store manager wants. I personally was basically asked to take a promotion and take on two jobs at once. I did so but ultimately figured out that initially they were not planning on adjusting my pay at all outside of maybe $1000 extra each month for a near impossible to hit metric (aka they didn't expect it and didn't want to pay more). Ultimately I pushed back and got more. Soon after that fellow employees in middle management positions slowly got rolled back into similar levels of pay to entry level and responsibilities. Felt like they were dangling "promotions" to address temporary problems only to roll it back once they felt they had better footing and then deciding your advancement was useless while still getting you to retain more duties. This hadn't happened to me yet at the middle management level but I felt like the writing was on the wall. Saw it happen to 3 other people and left before they could do the same to me when they started hiring new people who would obviously make my role unnecessary in their eyes. I don't want to be too hard on them they were genuinely good people and offered great benefits. Just seems the road from entry level to stable management is rocky and frought with being at the right place/right time or someone who gets liked by the right people. Otherwise they take the concept of no job too small too far and try to stretch people into doing things well beyond their role. Again they operate as a family company almost to a fault given their massive size. TLDR: If you get in with the right people and truly join their inner family circle you get treated like gold, otherwise they may try to stretch your responsibilities relative to role/pay.

Pros

Solid corporation Corporate culture is positive Community initiatives are second to none Free health care Freedom to move

Cons

It's sales. When the economy is soft, commissions can be tight. Most locations work on a volume pay plan rather than gross profit. Most of your coworkers' primary qualification is the ability to fog a mirror. While you can largely come and go as you please, it's still expected that you are on the lot no less than 50 hours a week, leaving very little room for work-life balance.
