Pros
HJF is filled with good people who want to make a positive difference in the world. They are respectful and smart. HJF provides good benefits and the pay is decent. The overall culture is committed to the greater good and doing the right thing. Of course, no company is perfect but I would recommend this company to a friend or family member and work there again.
Cons
HJF is a non-profit organization and the salaries are not competitive compared to pharmaceutical and tech company salaries with similar roles, This is team-specific, but the team I was on struggled to prioritize work, say no on new potential projects when needed, and/or set appropriate work boundaries (i.e., not hiring sufficient staff to complete tasks despite employee recommendations). Substantial work is also needed in the area of diversity within leadership. For example, I'm aware of multiple teams that only include white males who are over age 50 despite having many experienced women in lower roles in the same department that have the experience and personality to take on greater leadership roles.
