Pros

Benefits are solid. PTO, retirement, health coverage are actually great

Cons

Compensation is heavily skewed to execs vs the staff supporting the company. It’s a non-profit, but the CEO is making over 600k, the COO making over 400k and when staff ask for professional growth opportunities, promotions, or resources to meet the demands being asked…it’s a mess of “we don’t have the financials to support that”, but there is finances to pay heavy executive salaries- even for the DC area- those are unheard of in the non-profit world.

Pros

-Meaningful research mission -Feels like a startup with high level of responsibility in early career -Everyone leaves right at 5pm, so work/life balance is great

Cons

-Company cares only about tenure; merit-based raises are extremely hard to come by -Very little communication from HR about performance evaluations, COL increases, or raises; managers never seem to know anything -Poor career advancement and growth and pay is already not great -Team dynamics depend entirely on managers who lack basic project management skills -Without a budget for happy hours, people do not connect outside of work
