Pros

Company Car Work from home when not on the field Decent benefits (PTO, sick leave, 401k, insurance etc.)

Cons

Where do I start? Literally every single account manager I spoke to before leaving was a walking zombie. No one was happy. So much micromanagement from corporate its actually insane. The salesforce use requirements are ridiculously time consuming and not realistic, it’s either quality or quantity. Hilti chooses quantity every single time which is so funny because “quality” is their value proposition. Pay is abysmal for the amount of work. My job was to sell and grow my territory but somehow my job became about 100 different metrics they decided to throw on account managers. They become more and more cheap each passing year. There is no budget to take clients out for lunch, to get them any type of merch. Oh and shipping costs money so guess who becomes the delivery drivers? The account managers. I could honestly keep going.

Pros

You are your own boss and run your own territory as you see fit. Great products and highly regarded name in the industry.

Cons

Upper-level management is instituting more and more KPIs. This would be fine if Salesforce was more automated for the company, but there is a heavy manual component to input all of your conversations, opportunities, and leads. As an Account Manager you are expected to wear too many hats and it takes a long time to get ramped up to be effective in the job. You are expected to be a subject matter expert on many different product lines, handle logistics, credit issues, stock shortages, and be able to communicate effectively on jobsites all the way up to the C-suite level.
