Pros
Hilti products are the best out there. There are very few people that question the superiority of the tools or other products. They attempt to hire based on competence and there a lot of high quality people in the organization. You get a company vehicle and free gas.
Cons
Hilti is a Germanic company and that culture permeates the whole organization. The company is metrics based to a fault. Currently the standards for being considered for advancement are nearly impossible to achieve. While Hilti makes the best products, they get schooled by other companies that attack the market by giving the customer exactly what they want, whether it is crap or not. Hilti approaches the market by making a product and then explaining to the customer why that is what they want. One of the biggest issues that sales people face are the grey areas between who receives credit for sales. There is supposedly a culture of trust and team work, but in reality Account Managers generally look out for themselves, and there is an environment of distrust. People are constantly tracking orders in order to catch other AMs that have inappropriately split orders and there is little or nothing done when people are caught. Sales targets constantly change and there is a new focus each month that distracts from people going out and selling. Compensation is average. The biggest issues currently are that there are basically 2 pay grades for AMs. Large metro area, and rural areas. You will get the same salary in Dallas, San Francisco or Atlanta. In addition, there are huge inconsistencies in how much AMs get paid, even in the same city, and the differences have nothing to do with the size of the territory.
