Pros

People I work with and most of the ones I worked around. Benefits were better than most. Superior products (tools, anchors and fasteners) that I sold and represented.

Cons

Over the years I have witnessed a shift from their focus on tools and products to software and services. Hilti is a tool company, and IMHO the best in the business. By shifting their focus, they are marginalizing their tool business. Over the years I have witnessed the adoption of the "Woke" culture within Hilti. While not all of that is negative, it alienates a group of employees who are your strongest producers - those who have been with the company the longest and know the business inside and out. Over the years I have witnessed Hilti "Retiring" many of their best employees in favor of younger and less expensive employees. In almost every case this was a detriment to the business and customers. Over the years I have witnessed the promotion of people based on something other than their real qualifications. This has resulted in people in management positions that have no business being in management positions. This has also resulted in the loss of great people who leave the company either on their own or are "Retired".

Pros

You are your own boss and run your own territory as you see fit. Great products and highly regarded name in the industry.

Cons

Upper-level management is instituting more and more KPIs. This would be fine if Salesforce was more automated for the company, but there is a heavy manual component to input all of your conversations, opportunities, and leads. As an Account Manager you are expected to wear too many hats and it takes a long time to get ramped up to be effective in the job. You are expected to be a subject matter expert on many different product lines, handle logistics, credit issues, stock shortages, and be able to communicate effectively on jobsites all the way up to the C-suite level.
