Pros

Close to the metro. Overtime pay can be nice but it is a double edged sword as you can be bullied into working overtime by superiors. Also not sure how this works but I've heard if you work a lot of overtime it will bump your paycheck into a higher tax bracket and you don't even end up benefiting financially. The office building is really nice and has received numerous awards for sustainability and efficient energy usage! The Christmas party is pretty nice. The subsidized cafeteria is pretty good but has been closed for months for renovations. There are tons of good restaurants and happy hour spots in the immediate area also.

Cons

The job is tedious and you need to learn database/workflow computer programs that are out-dated and you will probably never use again at any job in the future. Extremely deadline driven. You will often be expected to meet unreasonable deadlines. If the deadlines are not met, you will often be called in for a one on one meeting with a supervisor. Even if you meet your deadlines, it is generally stressful nonetheless to make sure they get done. Constantly busy and often pressured to work overtime on weeknights and especially the weekends. The content of the work is very boring and you often feel uneasy as the general Department mantra is "no mistakes allowed." A lot of printing documents to pdf and attaching them to online workflow programs.

Pros

Benefits, office culture, resources and the people

Cons

Salary seems higher at other firms, but I guess the benefits out weigh this

Pros

- Hogan Lovells has an awesome Responsible Business program that allows employees to volunteer with various organizations throughout the year during the work day. Volunteering is so much a part of the culture that the Responsible Business hours are mandatory for all employees.

Cons

- Compensation was on the low end of the market and there was little room to grow within the role. Hogan Lovells promotes internally from the Assistant level to a Specialist, but it is rare for an internal employee to make the jump into management level position. - Hogan Lovells used to require employees to work 3 days in office allowing for 2 days wfh. Now, employees are required to come in office 4 days per week allowing for 1 day wfh. However, this policy is only enforced in some departments and is highly dependent on who your manager is.
