Pros
- RND engineers are smart and capable. They solve problems rather than whining. I can't emphasize this enough - Good pay, stock option, exit - Less meetings and more coding, less wasted time than elsewhere - If you visit headquarter, all expenses are paid and you get to enjoy nice apartment & lunch
Cons
- Lack of documentation. Maybe insights and knowledge about caveats, workarounds, subtle bugs and historical leftovers are hidden and buried in the minds of experienced old-timers. These knowledge is discussed in chats and emails, but not persisted well, which lead to next point - It's ABSOLUTELY an bad decision to ban Slack and the many GREAT extension & plugins our cool engineer P wrote. It used to greatly improve efficiency, productivity, and happiness, and now it's gone. Also we should totally go for paid Slack team and get unlimited chat history. It's so easy and will help so much - Old technology is taking its toll. Not only it drags down productivity in a day-to-day manner, also it pushes away potential good hires
