Pros

The coworkers are great and try to do their best. Benefits are ok--pretty much normal for anywhere you work these days. Employee discounts on products are nice. My boss is nice but not everybody is so lucky because there are a lot of bad managers or ones who have no power.

Cons

Departments are set up to fail. Crazy goals and expectations that we can't meet because somebody just guessed at some goal and there was no plan. People get fired left and right, doesn't matter who you are. You always have to watch your back so you aren't the next scapegoat. There have been more high level employees be fired here than anywhere I ever worked before and the same for regular employees who work hard and get fired for no reason. We keep making the same products over and over again and release new versions 3-4 times in a year and then have to dump off the previous version at a super low price to make room for the next one and then we get in trouble for having bad margins. We don't have the right systems and tools to do our job but nobody wants to listen. They don't understand that we could do our job more quickly and save money if they would just invest in us. We want to do a good job, but the higher ups are more worried about their bonuses and won't spend money to make money. Customers used to come first here, but everybody at the field and on the forums say we've changed and they don't trust us anymore.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Glassdoor, and for your long term commitment to Horizon. I'm sorry your impression of Horizon is not completely positive—I would love to help change that so you are a happy and engaged employee. I encourage you to come speak to someone in Human Resources to share your insights and address your concerns. There are differences between departments and the challenges they face, and between managers. What seems to be constant is the satisfaction with coworkers. We are very fortunate to have great people throughout the organization. Developing and improving our managers is an ongoing initiative, and specific and identifiable feedback from employees is essential to help us guide and coach. Again, I invite you to speak to HR to help us build a stronger leadership team. As for your comment about involuntary turnover, I believe your impression does not align with reality. Our workforce metrics show a consistently low turnover over many years, running about half of the national average. With that said, at times changes are necessary to get the right skills in the right positions, or to adjust to changing business conditions. These decisions are not made lightly, nor are the reasons always known by others since they are confidential situations. We do our best to support people through periods of transition. Feedback from every exit interview is addressed with senior leadership. While adjustments may not be immediately apparent, trust that we take this feedback and work to build a better Horizon. I couldn’t agree more with your advice to talk to people—that’s why we conduct random retention interviews, have recently started partnering an HR rep with each department to attend huddles, and actively monitor Glassdoor for feedback and suggestions. Horizon has an open door policy. Please avail yourself of it with department leadership and/or HR to share your insights and recommendations, and point out areas you feel need further investment for success. We are ready and eager to listen.

Pros

Recognition & Rewards: Horizon has a genuinely motivating recognition culture. The points-based reward system is a standout policy I appreciated. It creates a tangible way for hard work to be acknowledged and rewarded, and it fosters a sense of healthy motivation across the team. It's the kind of initiative that shows a company actually values its employees, not just in words but in action. Plus you can use your points on gift cards, swag and restaurants. I got myself a Home Depot gift card. Work Life Balance: Horizon understands that employees have lives outside of work, and that balance was always respected. Never feeling like work was consuming my personal time made me a more focused and productive employee when I was on the clock. Exciting Products: Working with great products made the job genuinely enjoyable. There's a real sense of pride that comes with representing something you believe in, and at Horizon, that was never hard to do. We get to work with badass cars, planes and boats. Employee Product Testing: One of the most unique and appreciated perks was being able to take products home to test. As a dad with boys, this was especially meaningful, it made the products feel personal and gave real-world perspective that made me better at my job. That's a rare thing. Supportive Management: The leadership at Horizon sets the tone for everything. Having management that is approachable, supportive, and genuinely invested in their team makes all the difference in day-to-day work life. It's something you don't take for granted. Thank you Jenn!

Pros

Excellent benefits, Excellent Perks and rewards, top of the line PTO, great coworkers, a hobby experience like no other.

Cons

Management has no plan, flies by the seat of their pants and then shifts. They do not pay Product Support representatives the average, do not let glassdoor fool you with the average pay. there is no one who makes $21+ an hour, in fact I don't think anyone touches $20 an hour regardless how long they have been with the company. They do surveys but nothing changes or gets done. They do not like remote employees and no longer hire remotely.
