Work environment is not what it used to be

Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Some talented and great people work at HH. I truly believe HH cares about its customers.

Cons

Certain members of management continue to get promoted to key positions in upper management, despite consistent failures. If certain members of upper management like you, you're in. If not, you are out. It has largely become a good ol' boys club. It used to be a great place to work but changes in company priorities and large staff reductions have drastically changed the environment. The company priorities, direction and performance are not very transparent to employees.

Thank you for sharing your perspective on Glassdoor. As a current employee, we hope you will avail yourself of opportunities to speak directly with your leadership team, HR, or senior managers to share specific information about what you see and what you would like to change. If your morale, or that of coworkers, is not as high as it should/could be, please partner with us and make some suggestions of how we can improve. We not only welcome, but encourage, employee feedback and participation. All Horizonites should have clear direction about corporate goals and company performance. As you know, we ensure each department is holding regular huddles, we have monthly meetings with senior leaders and ask them to take information back to their teams, and we have quarterly meetings for all employees. Plus, we have an open door policy at all levels of the organization. Please speak up if you need information about your role, company objectives, and our future direction. You are a part of the team and we all need to be pulling in the same direction to move forward. Thank you for your compliments on our compensation, benefits, people, and commitment to customer service. We are glad you recognize how much we value all of those things--you included, whomever you are! :) If your current experience at Horizon isn't what you want it to be, please talk to someone. We truly do care!

Pros

The work environment is very positive. A lot of internal charity events to help the community. the products that are being developed are very exciting.

Cons

There is a lot of mismanagement going on at the higher level, which usually results in the blame being passed on to the employees. There was a lack of communication between different divisions.

Pros

Good people in the company and a great product.

Cons

Executives. Was family owned and then became more "profit" focused. I welcome change and process improvement- but the focus was more on the extreme side of obsessive.

Thank you for submitting a review on Glassdoor, and thank you for your 8+ years of service with Horizon. We are glad you think highly of our people and our products! We hope all employees accept and even embrace change like you espouse, but it is sometimes difficult to get a whole organization on the same page and moving at the same time. In some instances, we may make a decision and later receive new information that causes us to pause and reevaluate. Other times we try something new, and find the results do not meet our business objectives to the extent we had intended. Growth is achieved not by sticking with the tried and true all of the time, but from being willing to try new things and develop in new and interesting ways. Some times we will temporarily stumble, but a fall is not a fail--we analyze what went well and what didn't, and learn from those experiments. It is a continuing, on-going process. With that said, it is important to empower our people to speak up, be entrusted to execute on their portion of a plan, and add their contributions in the most meaningful way. Over time, those principles result in success, which for Horizon and our consumers is RC fun! We appreciate your review. Best of luck in the future!
