Pros

Great place to start right out of college. Immediately get frontline management experience that will allow you to build many new skills and help you strengthen other skills. You will learn many new computer systems that will make you very marketable. The flagship plant has a lot of young talent and a great atmosphere within the management team. Vacation time is great. I had many days off in my time there from vacation and built up time. Very fast paced and always on the go. No down time and never boring, always things to be doing and new processes to be learning. You get to have the responsibility of running an area by yourself and being held accountable for it. Lot of pride in your work.

Cons

Managers are expected to work 10.5 hours a day and you will, most days are longer than that, but it has gotten a lot better and they are working to meet the needs of work-life balance. There is some wasted talent and not enough internal movement between areas. A lot of times people are kept in one area for too long. There is also a large problem with gossip and rumors that tend to hurt peoples' careers, true or not.

Pros

I love working at Hormel, its easy to say but this really is a tight knit family culture, the people are what make this company awesome. I am given the freedom to express my skills and perform to the best of my availabilities without anyone looking over my shoulder. Hormel gives their employees the room and space to shine, the tools and support to grow and develop. The sky is truly the limit here as far as how far you want to go if you are willing to commit and work hard.

Cons

I dont think its a con however, some might. In some cases you may need to be willing to move to different cities or states to progress your career, however the company will pay to move you.
