Pros

The culture, talent and overall drive to do great things makes this company great to work at, both in terms of enjoying your day-to-day and in terms of learning, developing your skills, and building relationships.

Cons

Change is a constant, so if that isn't your cup of tea you might not enjoy it here.

We view speed as a sustainable competitive advantage. We put really smart people in a room, point them at hard problems and set a pace and mindset to ship - code, a new workflow, a test for new language on how to connect with our Pros, a different way to run our Town Halls. As long as your hypothesis aligns with your team's goals and strategy, we have a strong bias towards action. It's exhilarating. And it takes a certain mindset for ownership and a love of pace. Change is constant, we are always working on being incrementally better today across the entire company than we were yesterday, and when you stack those improvements up x 200+ people, it's amazing the value you can create. Thanks for your feedback. It's great to hear that you are enjoying the challenging work and the culture that you are a part of.

Pros

Great people below executive level that want to do their best work. Full remote work. Working with customers that actually make a difference in the world.

Cons

Hustle culture without the hustle pay. Way below market salary but executives expect top company output. Fear based. Executives pivot every week, if not multiple times a day and it creates immense thrash. CTO is completely disconnected from day to day work, talks in abstract most of the time, and when they do mention something about actual work, it's completely disconnected from the reality of people doing the work. Top talent has been steadily leaving the company. Process is whatever the executives decide that week. The current product is mediocre at best and most attempts from talented people to make it better either are ignored or when agreed upon, the rug gets pulled out from underneath a couple months later when the executives get cold feet. If you want to work at a company and make a difference, this is not the place to do it. Promotions and pay increases are non-existent unless you work 14+ hour days, amplify whatever the current executive flavor of the week is, and put your head down and just execute on someone else's poorly planned ideas. Everyone is pretty miserable currently and most people are only still there because the current job market is not great.

We're sorry aspects of your experience haven't reflected what we strive for, particularly around compensation and direction consistency. How pay aligns with expectations and how strategic shifts are communicated are concerns we want to understand better. We'd love to hear more; please reach out to your manager, the People Team, or any senior leader you're comfortable speaking with. -Housecall Pro People Team
