Pros
There are certainly some sincere Christians and missionally-minded people here – especially in the service positions. And if you just want to serve students, there is genuine good that you can do here.
Cons
The reality at HCU is that the Sloan administration will work you like a dog and they will pay you peanuts. This place is run to provide the ‘minimally viable product.’ This means a minimally good education, in a way that maximizes money for HCU’s hyper-capitalist executive council who pay themselves exorbitant salaries. Most of the positive reviews on Glassdoor for HCU have been written by front desk clerks, part time workers, gym instructors, and other people who are not integrally involved in the institution. If you are considering a job that is full-time and more central to the institution, then you will find that this place is a very poor work environment. The Sloan administrators are greedy capitalists who will take advantage of your missional mindset. They will fund their lavish lifestyles by using your missional aims to pay you a menial wage and treat you like trash. Their enormous salaries are far above the industry standard and especially in the stratosphere for Christian colleges. The administrators are not behaving like real Christians. So be warned. If you are a missional and sincere Christian, know that there are other places where you can serve God faithfully than at this exploitative and dysfunctional university.
