Pros
-Compared to academic advisors at other colleges, the pay is better as well, and we have more holiday time. -Culture varies by campus, with some campuses having much better direct management and culture than others. -Free parking - diverse
Cons
-very top heavy management. Too many vcs, avcs, and presidents of each college making six figures, yet threaten support staff with budget cuts all the time. - very, very old technology. PeopleSoft is living in the stone ages and it negatively impacts students and staff. Every other college is light years away. - management does not listen to student support services , makes decisions in a bubble without consulting the people who see students daily, that in turn negatively impacts students. Student services then blames us for low enrollment, and students blame us for lacking to help. We are caught in the middle. - lots of nepotism and politics, and little room for growth. -lack of professional development -pay is lower than school teachers
