The students and the time off.

Cons

HCC has a culture of ignoring problems and promoting bad behavior. For example, if a manager, Director, Dean, etc does something egregious, they punish the offended employee by moving them and nothing happens to the offender. People are allowed to do whatever they want. They bully each other, yell, curse, ignore students, lie, steal, and cheat and are still able to keep their jobs. It shameful, embarrassing, and disgraceful.

Cons

POLITICS! Co-workers who go behind your back to scheme. Top management never keeps their word in regards to pay. HCC just wants to pay you as little as you will ALLOW them to.

Pros

Good benefits, health care is covered by the state. Get all major holidays off, most of the campuses are somewhat laid back depending on the staff.

Cons

Salary is not good and not competitive. If you move around in the company they pay you less vs an outsider coming in which doesn’t make much sense. The organization as a whole is very disorganized. No effective communication. Lots of politics going on. Unless you are desperate for a job or need some experience look elsewhere. LoneStar is much better or another college near by. Very all over the place. They promote incompetent people instead of intelligent people who would give the institution better organization. Turn over rate is very high.
