Pros

Many of us joined this company deeply inspired by its mission, using technology to reduce the housing crisis. The work itself is meaningful and the talent here is extraordinary: smart, passionate people who genuinely believe in building something that matters. There was once a strong sense of shared purpose, innovation, and the belief that we could do good through our work.

Cons

Unfortunately, that original spirit has eroded. The company is struggling to transition from a scrappy startup mentality reliant on maximum effort at all times, to a sustainable, well-led organization that plans, prioritizes, and uses their human capital wisely. Leadership demands more and more while offering less and less consideration to employees in return. The CEO has dug in his heels to a culture of exhaustion and optics rather than alignment, ownership and trust. The latest decision mandating six days a week in the office, is the clearest example of how disconnected he has become from the people he is entrusted to lead. What could have been a turning point toward maturity and focus has instead truly demoralized the team and triggered a silent domino effect that will make success an uphill battle. Tragically, it’s likely the damage will only be recognized when it’s far too late.

Pros

ICON gives exciting opportunities to work with cutting edge technology, kind people, and exciting partners. Every day at ICON looks different and things are constantly new and different. It allows an eager employee to build a variety of skills and tools that they can use for their entire career.

Cons

Things at ICON are constantly changing. The ICON you may have worked at last year might not be the ICON you work at today. This can be really hard if you're not adaptable. It's also demanding and very "surge-y". It can be hard to predict when the big surges happen, but it's important to have a personal life that allows for periods of extreme commitment to your career (I am talking week-long+ sprints of working and sleeping only). This can be really difficult, if you aren't prepared for it. Another key challenge is that ICON is a true start up. Nothing is guaranteed. If you're looking for a stable and reliable workplace for longterm consistent comfort, look elsewhere. But fortune also tends to favor the bold.

Pros

Good insurance provided and access started day one. Initial company culture seems positive on the surface

Cons

‘Lean’ company mantra leads to burnout and inefficiency. Culture creates expectation that work is life
