Pros

I’ll give them this….its a cool idea….and they’re consistent….at lying, gaslighting, and burning money. This was so prevalent and erosive of trust that if they were being honest, you could never tell.

Cons

Consistent at exclusion and discrimination of anyone that doesn’t fit a southern conservative mold. Anyone who isn’t this, a manager, or from a company they have a good relationship with looked down upon. Sexism. Tribalism, power games, no ownership of mistakes, people play messed up games if they see any insecurity in you, take care of yourself and no one else mentality. People hid that they weren’t working, especially managers. Some ways they did this was by pawning off tasks they didn’t want to do on you, telling you off for minor mistakes while they make major ones that have significant effects on timelines, sitting at their desks and “looking” busy, getting mad at you for being on your phone for a few minutes while they scroll instagram on their computer all day. Managers are CONSTANTLY and I mean CONSTANTLY monitoring you, and JUDGING your every action. They won’t talk to you about it either. They’ll just fire you for an arbitrary reason. Egotistical managers who will put you down as much as they can at the hint of any sort of differing view. No reflection on their own actions.

Pros

ICON gives exciting opportunities to work with cutting edge technology, kind people, and exciting partners. Every day at ICON looks different and things are constantly new and different. It allows an eager employee to build a variety of skills and tools that they can use for their entire career.

Cons

Things at ICON are constantly changing. The ICON you may have worked at last year might not be the ICON you work at today. This can be really hard if you're not adaptable. It's also demanding and very "surge-y". It can be hard to predict when the big surges happen, but it's important to have a personal life that allows for periods of extreme commitment to your career (I am talking week-long+ sprints of working and sleeping only). This can be really difficult, if you aren't prepared for it. Another key challenge is that ICON is a true start up. Nothing is guaranteed. If you're looking for a stable and reliable workplace for longterm consistent comfort, look elsewhere. But fortune also tends to favor the bold.

Pros

Good insurance provided and access started day one. Initial company culture seems positive on the surface

Cons

‘Lean’ company mantra leads to burnout and inefficiency. Culture creates expectation that work is life
