Pros
-No teacher certification needed -Always hiring -They give cool gifts *P.S. many of the good reviews for IDEA are obviously written by administration and principles. *
Cons
-Changed the subject I taught 3 days before school started -Forced me to curve grades to make IDEA look better on paper *I think this issue will land them in legal trouble, as I know at least a dozen teachers whom IDEA administration forced to curve grades. - I had to buy my own books and supplies -No Critical Thinking: Forced to only teach how to do well on tests. - I was promised $48K at interview, only $43K on the actual contract I signed. -Principal scolded me in front of my students and was often wrong (he didn't understand my subject) - HUGE teacher turnover: 5 teachers quit this year and the year is not over -Poor performing students forced to the front, no real say in seating chart. -I had about 10 bosses telling me conflicting things (boss 1: elaborate on this, boss 2: don't even cover that, etc) -15 minute lunch breaks -75 hour work week -Tons of new administration, showing their power but having no idea what the campus is about
